Do you ever feel skeptical about good news because you’re still worried about when the other shoe will drop?

Good and bad things happen, yet not necessarily in relation to each other. The only thing we know for certain is that things will happen.

Why not celebrate good news when it happens rather than worrying about a future that we don’t control and isn’t predictable?

Here’s a personal ‘Good News’ update to celebrate:

In November, 2022 I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I wrote about that and you can read it here.

So in response to that, I started an even more serious strength training regimen that included going to the gym to lift heavier weights.

I feel good about my training and have my own distinct evidence that it’s having positive effects. Chaturanga (the yoga push up) is still not my fave but at least it doesn’t hurt. I am feeling stronger, more resilient, even a bit beefier – in a good way. I’m pretty sure it’s making an impact.

Still I really wanted to know if my work was making a measurable difference. So after 14 months into my ramped-up exercise routine (instead of waiting the usual 2 years,) I asked my doctor for another DEXA scan to compare results.

Those recent results came back showing marked improvement! Even though I wasn’t sure if it was even possible, my goal of going from Osteoporosis to Osteopenia came true!

Speaking with my internist after these new results, she said it was significant because these values do not reverse often. She recommends that I continue with what I have been doing, including my regimen of taking Calcium and Vitamin D. What a relief…!

Moving forward, I won’t rush to get another scan so quickly because of exposure to radiation. And since my strength training apparently is working, why do I even need external reassurance of the work that I know to be good?

How’s your path going?  What good news do you have that we can celebrate together?
