Nancy Hoffman is always on the mat right next to me. She loves to practice!

Nancy will be 96 in November and doesn’t mind saying her age. She says it all the time, “because it gives hope to other people to be of sound mind and body at her age.”

Anchoring my limbs to my core has helped me to feel whole and supported. This guides me to move with more fluidity and ease. I’ll share practices that will help you stay connected to your core.

My eclectic approach has been informed by in-depth and decades-long work in dance, personal training, Pilates, Alexander Technique, yoga, and more.

I’ll bring energy and insight to shed some light on this topic.

How’s this for a Crow pose variation? This brings How’s this for a Crow pose variation?

This brings me back to a class I took years ago at Urban Yoga with Rodney Yee.

In the class, Rodney offered a variation of Crow pose that I had never seen - from a deep squat with the arms under the shins then rising. I couldn’t get into crow pose in this way and I became so frustrated through many unsuccessful attempts that I cried. I had thought that I had Crow mastered yet learning it in the variation that Rodney taught, I clearly had not.

Full disclosure: I still got a big ab cramp while filming this pose today.

I’m feeling completely depleted and exhausted and in need of some restorative stretching and gentleness. Could we have that type of session today?”

I set up the studio with wall to wall mats covered with soothing-colored blankets, including a walking pathway to the playground. I placed restorative props strewn about on the blankets.

We celebrated our beloved Jennifer Muller one week We celebrated our beloved Jennifer Muller one week ago.

I spent ten formative years (1980-1990) with Jennifer Muller in her studio. I’m grateful for all that I learned from her as a dancer, teacher, artist and human.

Tears were shed, love was felt and her legacy will live on.

Thank you to all who helped with planning this Celebration and to those who joined us. Thank you to @TheJoyceTheater.

If you missed it, a video of the show will be coming soon.
